Challenging Conditions

Over the weekend we went to the shoot in Portland. For that club, the weather was pretty nice, the sun was shining and the wind wasn't blowing too hard. Saturday was cold, but Sunday warmed up. I am happy that I had the overall high scores for singles and handicap on Saturday, but, even better, Tony won his class in doubles on Sunday. That was no small feat even though the number of shooters was low, however that is always the case in Portland. I really love to shoot at that club and it always kind of saddens me (but never surprises me) that the crowd is consistently small. It's a tough place to shoot and I understand why many avoid it. In my opinion though, it's shooting in these kinds of conditions that make me a better shooter. It makes any bad habits and inconsistencies glaringly obvious. I really have to be focused to get decent scores there and I like how much I have to 'work' to be consistent. So, I want to challenge anyone who reads this to show up and participate the next time you have the opportunity to shoot at a location where you know it is going to be tough. It will make you better in the end.
